The drug problem in Indian Country – the why and how to prevent: 

Meth – speed – crystal – the new danger to Indian Country – how to prevent.

Enjoying all of life without any drugs 

Why prevention:

  • Treatment results and its cost
  • Preventing all drug experimentation

(Meth, speed, crystal, inhalants, cocaine, crack, alcohol and designer drugs 

·        Children from Alcoholics

ü      Dangers faced by children

ü      Children cannot cure parents 

Refusal Skills 

·        Helping others who want to say “No” to drugs

ü      Exercise:  List positives of drug use versus positives of non-drug use 

·        How to turn drug use pressures around 

·        Recognizing and dealing with peer pressure – it’s okay to say “no” 

·        Make boozing and other drug use very uncool.  Establishing an atmosphere where kids who do not use drugs win 

·        Staying straight, yet having brothers and sisters who drink or use

Native youth experiences in losing their trust funds.

·        Money Management Skills – Building a sound financial plan - Record keeping 

Evening Parent and Youth Session (all caretakers asked to attend) 

Panel presentation (locally approved religious leaders)

·        Creating wealth and keeping your Native culture

·        The Parable of the Talents 

·        Simple Interest

·        Compound Interest 

Safer way of putting your money to work while you sleep 

Creating assets = Creating wealth
